Representatives of the National Electricity Market Operator – MEMO LLC participated last week in the working meetings on Guarantees of Origin of Electricity, held in Paris and organised by AIB – Association of Issuing Bodies, of which MEMO is a full member.
The meetings covered several important topics related to the further development and enhancement of the Guarantees of Origin system, including:
🔹 transfers through the Hub and the availability of data on actual imports and exports in near real time;
🔹 alignment of the EECS Rules with CEN standards;
🔹 implementation of the amendments and their impact on the functioning of individual domains;
🔹 issuance of Guarantees of Origin with Level 1 disclosure and their inclusion in the calculation of energy available for trading;
🔹 enhancing communication and information exchange within AIB;
🔹 defining priorities and translating them into concrete activities and a practical action plan.
MEMO continues to actively participate in European processes and contribute to the further development of the Guarantees of Origin system.
To date, MEMO has issued more than 850,000 Guarantees of Origin for electricity, representing an important step in the development of a system for tracking and verifying the origin of electricity.
The next step is the introduction of auctions for Guarantees of Origin for electricity, creating additional opportunities for transparent and organised trading of Guarantees of Origin.
