In the first half of the year, MEMO continued its consistent efforts to develop and modernize the Macedonian electricity market, with a strong focus on increased transparency, efficiency, and improvements to market mechanisms.

Key Results and Achievements

The Intraday Market was successfully established and launched, enabling:
• more efficient electricity trading
• improved system balancing
• greater flexibility for market participants

The market currently includes 21 active participants, confirming its continuous growth and relevance.

MEMO became a full member of the Association of Issuing Bodies (AIB), further strengthening integration into the European system of Guarantees of Origin and enhancing transparency in the green energy market.

From April 2025 to date, more than 500 000 Guarantees of Origin from renewable energy sources have been issued, representing a significant contribution to sustainable energy development.

MEMO actively cooperated with institutions and European partners through:
• working meetings with the Government and the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources
• meetings with the Energy Community Secretariat
• public consultation on market rules and an Intraday Market workshop
• discussions on CBAM and regional electricity market integration
