The National Electricity Market Operator—MEMO—successfully established the Register of Guarantees of Origin for Electricity in April this year and issued 107,666 guarantees within just two months.

On 26 May, MEMO officially issued the first Guarantees of Origin from renewable sources to AD ESM, for electricity generated by its hydropower facilities. In June, 56. 620 guarantees were issued for hydropower plants, while in July, 51. 046 guarantees were issued for photovoltaic power plants.

An increasing number of companies are joining the Register, representing a key step in building a transparent and modern electricity market.

MEMO ensures alignment between national and European regulations by maintaining a reliable and standardised system for issuing, transferring, and activating Guarantees of Origin. These electronic documents prove to consumers that a certain share or quantity of electricity has been produced from renewable energy sources.
