The Macedonian power exchange continues to grow and strengthen. A warm welcome to GSA Energy, our 40th registered...

In the first six months of 2025, the National Electricity Market Operator (MEMO) achieved significant results in strengthening the organized electricity market and supporting the energy transition.
-MEMO was officially designated as the Nominated Electricity Market Operator (NEMO) for the next four years — a key step toward further integration of the Macedonian electricity market with the single European electricity market.
– Euro-denominated trading was successfully launched on the Macedonian power exchange, marking a major advancement in market alignment.
– Day-ahead market trading volumes increased by more than 40% compared to the first half of 2024, reflecting growing liquidity and market confidence.
– The Guarantees of Origin (GOs) Registry was established and is already operational, with 56. 620 GOs issued to date.
– MEMO took an active role at the expert level in working groups formed by the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources for the drafting of the new Energy Law and the draft Law on Renewable Energy Sources.
– High-level delegations — including representatives from the U.S. Embassy and the Energy Community Secretariat — were welcomed to discuss ongoing and future energy initiatives.
– The Macedonian electricity market was promoted at several key international events:
🔹 30th Athens Electricity Forum
🔹 ETCSEE 2025 in Austria
🔹 Energy Market Integration Forum – EMIF 2025 at the European Parliament in Brussels
🔹 Annual EUROPEX Conference – the Association of European Energy Exchanges
– Regular updates on activities and key electricity market indicators were shared with stakeholders. In line with our commitment to transparency, a media briefing was also held at the Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources.
With renewed focus and dedication, MEMO moves forward in the coming months with a clear vision: building a modern, transparent, and integrated energy market.
