Dynamic and substantive discussions at the 30th Athens Electricity Forum, organized by the Energy Community. The event was actively attended by a MEMO Ltd delegation led by the CEO, Zoran Gjorgjievski, who spoke on a panel dedicated to the importance of market coupling.

In his address, Gjorgjievski emphasized that integrating the Macedonian organized electricity market into the Single European Market is of strategic importance for the country.

“Although coupling before 2026 is no longer an option, the focus must now shift to ensuring a high-quality and credible implementation between Q4 2026 and Q1 2027,” stressed Gjorgjievski.

This process brings multiple benefits:

– Increased liquidity

– More competitive and transparent prices

– Increase in investments in the energy sector

– Potential exemption from the CBAM mechanism for electricity

The forum brought together policymakers, regulators, industry professionals, and experts from across the region, who, in addition to discussing market coupling, also addressed the energy transition and investments in renewable energy sources.
